No observamos todo lo que somos capaces de ver, ni escuchamos todo lo que creemos oír. Percibimos, en gran medida, aquello que estamos esperando que suceda y no lo que realmente sucede, hacemos reconstrucciones y predicciones constantemente. Así funciona el cerebro. En el caso de estudiantes cuya lengua materna es similar al español el principio de cierre hace que sean capaces de entender el sentido general del texto sin tan siquiera tener mucha práctica con el español.
